TITLE: Senior Analyst – Technical Services

Essential Functions of Role:
Following the organizational mission, the Technical Services Senior Analyst will have primary responsibility for the establishment and refinement of the following:
Farms and Flocks
- Development and analysis of grower scorecard, working with company veterinarian and plant management to create a system that ranks the farms based on plant performance criteria
- Work with cross-functional team to analyze the results of flock performance and the impact they have on yields throughout the system.
- Assisting company veterinarian during disease outbreak. This could include:
- Analysis in the kill plant to assess bird health,
- Permitting during an outbreak,
- Tracking of vaccinated flocks through the process, etc.
1st and 2nd Processing:
- Work with R&D, Operations and FSQA on projects that continuously optimize costs by evaluating yields and efficiencies.
- Assist with the development of process controls and quality assurance measurements.
- Assist with the move toward a paperless system for regulatory, quality and audit compliance.
Formulations, production processes, and industry best practices for value-added (raw & cooked) products.
- Evaluate, test, create and/or refine a broad range of product prototypes and existing value-added products that satisfies the objectives of an assigned project or initiative; this may involve one or more of the following:
- meat and ingredient sourcing,
- research of process and manufacturing technologies,
- determination of needed work-in-process materials and
- finished product packaging.
- Work on projects that continuously improve and optimize costs by evaluating things such as yields, efficiencies, and ingredients.
- Audit process specifications that are used to guide the successful production of the various value-added products manufactured for accuracy and consistency.
- Work collaboratively with other functional areas within the organization including Operations, Maintenance, FSQA, R&D, Marketing, Finance, Purchasing and Logistics to support the objectives of each department as it relates to continuous improvement and overall company needs.
- Stay attuned to new industry developments and informed of relevant legislative, scientific and technical developments, and applicable industry codes of practice, as well as new product trends.
- Assist with the development of process controls and quality assurance.
- Provide support to Operations and FSQA in troubleshooting quality or food safety issues.
General
- Must be willing to travel as necessary.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food/Meat/Animal Science, or related field is required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Ability to think both creatively and strategically to achieve practical solutions is essential.
- Minimum 4-years experience in poultry and/or meat further-processing product development is strongly preferred.
- A high level of analytical and mathematical skill is a must.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively is a must.
- Must be able to represent the organization in a professional manner to the industry at-large.
- Flexible to work off shift(s) as project requirements necessitate.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Above average computer skills, utilizing various Microsoft programs required including Microsoft Office and Excel, with the willingness and ability to learn and utilize Access.
