POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manger will be responsible for managing all vendor processes in the accounts payable system. This includes ensuring that vendor invoices are processed and paid in a timely and accurate manner, and that all vendor invoices are properly coded to support accurate financial reporting. This role is responsible for timely filing and reporting of annual 1099’s for all NAACP related entities, financial reporting support, and monthly financial analysis. This role will also support the Finance team with the financial statement audits, 990 preparation, and monthly closing process.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee complete accounts payable cycle to include vendor set up in PN3 and Sage Intacct systems, invoice processing, and coding review.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions between PN3 and Sage Intacct.
- Prepare the annual Form 1099 filings in a timely and accurate manner.
- Record journal entries and perform account reconciliations accurately, and efficiently, to meet all monthly and annual close deadlines. Account reconciliations will include Accounts Payable, Prepaids, Accruals, and Fixed Assets and any other reconciliations as assigned.
- Perform monthly analytical review of all balance sheet accounts and provide explanations for material variances.
- Support SVP and Controller with monthly review and preparation of financial reports at entity and department level.
- Follow all internal controls related to all accounting functions/processes to include accounts payable and general ledger accounting.
- Support the annual financial statement audits of the NAACP and its affiliates; prepare audit schedules and support team with requests.
- Provide strong customer service to NAACP staff and non-staff by responding to all Finance-related inquiries in an accurate and timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- A minimum of 4-6 years of work experience in finance/accounting, preferably with general operations of a non-profit entity.
- Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures including account reconciliation.
- Knowledge and experience with processing payroll and related duties.
- Ability to manage high-volume workload within a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to understand organizational and accounting related workflows and processes.
- Strong technical, critical thinking, problem solving, and investigative skills.
- Ability to work well with fellow team members.
- Strong computer aptitude skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sage Intacct, and/or PN3 Payables products preferred.
