We are looking for a talented Engine Field Service Technician to join our team specializing in Services, Maintenance and Diagnostics for our Service Operations Department in Tarkwa, Ghana.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Deliver Reliable On-Site Repairs: You’ll ensure engines are up and running quickly by diagnosing and completing repairs directly at customer sites, minimizing downtime and boosting customer satisfaction.
- Enhance Customer Experience: By engaging courteously and professionally, you’ll build trust and long-term relationships with customers, becoming a dependable face of the company.
- Ensure Operational Readiness: Performing preventative maintenance according to schedules helps prevent breakdowns, extending engine life and reducing costly repairs for customers.
- Support Team Efficiency: You’ll escalate unresolved issues to more experienced technicians or supervisors, ensuring complex problems are addressed swiftly without compromising service quality.
- Maintain Accurate Documentation: Completing service records, timesheets, and warranty claims ensures transparency, supports warranty processes, and contributes to continuous improvement.
- Identify Additional Service Opportunities: Spotting and communicating potential service needs helps customers stay ahead of issues and drives additional business value.
- Uphold Safety and Environmental Standards: By adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental policies and reporting incidents, you’ll contribute to a safe and compliant work environment.
- Keep Tools and Vehicles in Top Shape: Maintaining your service vehicle and tools ensures you’re always ready to respond efficiently and professionally to customer needs.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Technical Proficiency & Diagnostic Skills: You must be able to translate customer complaints into effective troubleshooting plans using diagnostic software, electronic service tools, and mechanical expertise—especially when working on gensets and complex engine systems.
- Adaptability & Problem-Solving: You’ll occasionally be required to perform complex repairs beyond routine tasks. Success will depend on your ability to interpret system interactions and escalate issues when needed, ensuring accurate and efficient resolutions.
- Professionalism & Responsibility: Driving duties and customer interactions require a high level of professionalism. Keeping service vehicles clean and well-maintained reflects your commitment to safety, readiness, and company standards.
- Documentation & Communication: Accurately documenting diagnostics, repairs, and service activities in business systems is essential for warranty claims, payment processing, and historical tracking—ensuring transparency and accountability.
Qualifications
Education/ Experience
- Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
- Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
- Locally valid driving permit
- Basic level field service work experience
- Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
- Customer service experience
