This position reports to the Director of Ethics & Compliance and is responsible for performing Ethics, Compliance and other HR-related duties on a professional level. Works closely with Ethics and HR management as well as all levels within the organization. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: ethics, culture and belonging, employee relations, policy implementation, personnel files, etc. May also assist the HR Business Partners in administering various human resources plans and procedures for salaried company personnel.
- Participate in employee relation matters and ethics issues – interviews, documentation, tracking, and analyzing data
- Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations, prepare reports, and other written materials involving employee relations issues and ethics issues.
- Support the Ethics and Compliance Team with Culture and Belonging initiatives including, but not limited to, the Safe Zone Ally Program and Employee Resource Groups.
- Update and maintain human resources information system records and compliance reports from the database
- Provide positive leadership in a team-based approach in the areas of problem identification and resolution on issues of harassment, discrimination, and disability.
- Provide support for programs and policies to promote hiring, retention, rewards, and engagement for Protected Veterans and for employees with disabilities
- Identify proactive opportunities for increasing awareness, knowledge, and education of all employees regarding ethics and respect in the workplace and assist with conducting required training when appropriate.
- Assist in internal audits and standard procedure reviews
- Maintain employee personnel files to ensure compliance with the company's records management and retention policy.
- Maintain current knowledge of Human Resources guidelines and laws.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance transparency and accuracy of personnel processes and information.
- Assist in other areas of Human Resources as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, Legal or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- At least three years of professional human resource experience required with experience in employee relations preferred.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee relations, ethics, disability regulations, and other federal and state respective employment laws.
- Strong customer relations, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy required.
- Flexibility to work more than 40 hours and adjust work hours as needed.
- 2-3 years' experience investigating employee relations issues preferred.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications required.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required; ability to prioritize daily workloads and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Meticulous record keeping and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt and quickly respond to an ever changing, progressive environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with a wide range of customers. State of Maine American Sign Language license/certification is a plus, but not required.
