Position Duties
The Town of Marana is seeking Recreation Programmer to work in the Parks & Recreation department at the Ora Mae Harn Senior Center with a specialty in the areas of facility operations and recreation programming. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in working in a fast-paced environment.
The Recreation Programmer assists in planning, coordinating and delivering quality recreation programs, services, events and facilities. This position is critical to the efficient and effective delivery of recreation programs for the Town of Marana within the specialized areas of the Ora Mae Harn Senior Center. The programmer will directly be involved in supporting Town Strategic Plan initiatives relative to the pursuit of programs.

Schedule: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. While the typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., specific work hours may vary based on departmental needs. Flexibility is required, and occasional overtime or evening/weekend hours may be necessary to support events, special projects, or other operational priorities. Please note that telework and alternative work schedules are not available for this position.
Expected Hiring Range: $20.65 - $25.30 per hour
- Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget
Salary Range: $20.65 - $29.94 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
- Provides excellent customer service, communicating effectively and courteously with the public and internal customers using applicable software, to create programs, manages activities and rosters
- Assists in the planning, coordination, promotion, implementation, and lead of recreational activities in the specialty program areas of the Ora Mae Harn Senior Center
- Prepares and executes advertisement and promotional plans for programs and facilities
- May lead and teach a variety of recreational activities
- Ensures facilities and equipment are safe, clean and arranged to meet the requirements of scheduled programs, activities and events
- Assists with purchasing necessary equipment and supplies
- Documents and maintains records and reports on data pertaining to programs, activities, events and facilities
- Assists in the preparation of social media announcements, bulletins and promotional materials including news releases, flyers, pamphlets, and brochures
- Assists with facility operations, maintenance and day-to-day functions
- Attends meetings and acts as the Department liaison when necessary
- Assists with other recreation specialty program areas as needed
- Operates vehicles, including 15-passenger vans, to safely transport participants to and from special events, outings, and day trips
Other Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training
- Over one (1) year experience performing recreation programming duties.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Arizona Driver License
- Must pass a 25-pound lift test
- Must complete a pre-employment physical
- Must pass the Town of Marana background check, and a motor vehicle records check.
- Must pass fingerprint clearance background check
- First Aid, AED and CPR certifications (required within 6 months of hire)
