Position Duties

The Town of Marana is seeking a Maintenance Associate II to work in the Public Works Department with the Traffic Division. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in working in a fast-paced environment, performing manual labor tasks in a wide variety of maintenance and construction work. The Public Works Department provides services that are vital to our community’s health, safety, and comfort.

Normal Business Hours: 7:00 – 3:30 5 days a week with mandatory rotating on-call

Location: 5100 W Ina Road, Tucson AZ 85743

Expected Hiring Range: $19.12/hour – $23.42/hour

  • Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget

Salary Range: $19.12/hour - $27.73/hour 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Performs routine Standardized-skilled maintenance of traffic control signage and pavement markings, and/or landscaping tasks; uses a variety of hand and power tools; inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems.
  • Provides service to internal and external customers.
  • Performs work duties and operates a variety of trucks and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Utilizes asset software management software to track work orders and supplies.
  • Sets up and removes temporary traffic control.
  • Pulls wire for signals and fiber optic cable.
  • Assembles and dismantles traffic signal equipment.
  • Observes and reports on traffic conditions.

Other Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Over one (1) year of traffic control experience, or street construction/maintenance experience, or closely related field.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License. 
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical including audiogram and pass a 50-pound lift test.
  • Complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
  • Obtain temporary traffic control certification within one year of hire.

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:   
  • Temporary traffic control certification.
