Higher education sits within the cities and places market, under our local government, housing and communities business. this is an exciting opportunity for a colleague that is looking to expand their role by taking a leadership position in the south region. the individual will be responsible for the higher education growth strategy across London and the south of England and Wales. Growing existing client accounts and alongside developing relationships with targeted campuses and their estates teams. There is an existing team, spread across the region delivering programme, project and cost management advice.

You’ll be responsible for:
- The role will take responsibility for teams managing end-to-end delivery and performance of large and complex commissions within the public and private sector, ensuring that client objectives are met through delivery.
- You will be responsible for key client relationship management, with a key role in business development and supporting growth of the team, projects and the higher education in the south, working with senior colleagues in the region across the centres of excellence (CoE’s).
- We are seeking someone who can act as a senior point of escalation, supporting and leading in financial management and operational management.
- You will possess advanced technical expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio.
- You will lead the delivery of key projects and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.
- You will lead the delivery of our services; including key strategic outcomes and KPIs, directly influencing strategic development of plans.
- Managing and supporting project leads on the financial performance of projects.
- You will mentor, coach, and develop large teams with senior direct reports, demonstrating effective leadership to ensure excellence in delivery against plans, championing a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities.
- You will actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilising the full depth of knowledge of Mace consult, the CoE’s, Mace way control centre and knowledge hub.
You’ll need to have:
- Relevant degree qualification (chartered or a similar level of professional qualification will be viewed favourably) and have transferable skills.
- Relevant professional qualification
- Track record of business planning, business development and delivering work for public and private sector clients in the higher education sector.
- Understanding of the intricacies of an integrated service offer covering cost, procurement, strategic advisory, project and programme management, PMO, sustainability and development management services in various contractual agreements in partner, consortia and direct contracts.
- You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Construction consultancy background in either cost management or project management and be keen to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
- Sound knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
- Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
- Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
