Job Details:

GENERAL STATEMENT: Only students currently enrolled in the Moody College of Communication are eligible to apply.  Preference will be given to juniors and seniors.  

Purpose:

The Student Social Media Associate position supports University Housing and Dining’s (UHD) social media presence by creating content, executing campaigns, monitoring effectiveness and analyzing results. This role is fast-paced and part of a highly collaborative and creative team. Executing on-brand and effective social media content in this role will help boost creativity and critical thinking while building real-world marketing and advertising experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation

    • Assist in developing and curating engaging social media content including posts, graphics, multimedia and strategy suggestions, that engage target audiences and follow brand and style guidelines. Ensure all content is consistent and reflects the UHD and University brands in a professional manner.

    • Help coordinate and assist with photo shoots and video creation, potentially appearing in them. Capture live social media coverage at events by working closely with the social media team to align efforts with the overall strategies of the department.

  • Campaign Execution

    • Collaborate on a social media campaign from concept to completion, including initial brainstorming, developing a rollout timeline and plan, determining assets, creating content and implementation.

    • Work collaboratively with the marketing, creative and communications teams through the creative lifecycle of projects and campaigns to bring ideas to life.

  • Analytics and Reporting

    • Help social media team track social media performance metrics, analyze results and provide reports on effectiveness. Suggest ideas to enhance social media efforts.

    • Create reports for various audiences demonstrating key metrics and effectiveness, collaborating with the social media, content and creative teams.

  • Research

    • Stay informed about the latest social media trends and best practices. Educate social media team on findings and help apply research to create posts and/or campaigns that align with the department’s goals and brand standards.

    • Conduct regular comparative analysis and brand studies of similar institutions and present findings to social media team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in courses at the Moody College of Communication

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Junior or senior status

  • Writing experience for digital channels

  • Previous experience in advertising, marketing or another related field preferred

  • Experience with Instagram, Instagram Reels, X (Twitter) and/or Facebook

  • Experience with Sprout Social or other analytics tools
