General Notes
The Campus Environmental Center (CEC) photographer is an important member of the Administrative Team, alongside the Co-Directors, Communication Coordinator and the Outreach Coordinator. You will manage and oversee the communication channels and promotional efforts of the CEC. You represent the CEC, the Office of Sustainability (OS) and UT in this role. You must be a positive role model and work to create a culture where all are accepted throughout the organization. You are expected to encourage and support all members of the CEC. Start Date/Duration. Start date of early September. This is a calendar year position (i.e. approx. Sept-July). A two-semester commitment is required (i.e. through Spring 2026).
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this internship, the Team Photographer will:
- Develop the ability to capture high-quality, impactful photographs that visually tell the story of CEC events, initiatives, and community members.
- Strengthen skills in photo composition, lighting, editing, and digital asset organization for use in social media, websites, and print materials.
- Learn to adapt photographic techniques to a variety of settings, including indoor/outdoor events, portraits, and candid moments.
- Gain experience working directly with event organizers, interview subjects, and team members to plan and execute photography needs.
- Understand how to visually convey the themes and values of sustainability in a way that engages and inspires audiences.

As a Team Photographer intern, students will strengthen the below competencies:
- Oral/Written Communications: Convey messages through strong visual storytelling. Improve collaboration skills by discussing creative direction, requesting necessary information from organizers, and presenting work for review.
- Professionalism/Work Ethic: Demonstrate reliability by attending events on time, meeting photo delivery deadlines, and producing consistent, high-quality work. Follow organizational brand and style guidelines.
- Critical Thinking/Problem Solving: Troubleshoot technical or environmental challenges—such as low lighting, poor weather, or fast-moving subjects—to capture the best possible images.
- Teamwork/Collaboration: Work closely with the communications and events teams to ensure photographic content supports campaign and outreach goals. Share visual assets in ways that make them easy for teammates to access and use.
Responsibilities
- Represent the Office of Sustainability and Campus Environmental Center at events/programs as our Photographer
- Capture photos that are fun and creative to represent sustainability on campus
- Communicate with CEC staff and Office of Sustainability Staff to coordinate event/photography schedule
- Communicate with participants at events/programs where you will be taking photos
- Attend any necessary Office of Sustainability meetings with staff
- Upload edited photos to the Flickr account in a timely manner after events
