Referral Coordinator – Coastal Health

Coastal Health is currently seeking a motivated, career-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of insurance verification and referral processes.

In this role, the Referral Coordinator will manage both inbound and outbound referrals, assist with insurance verifications, and ensure patients are referred to the appropriate physicians or specialists based on their individual needs. Responsibilities may also include scheduling patient appointments and supporting front office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet, direct, and assist patients and visitors in person or via phone with professionalism and care.

  • Serve as a coordinator and liaison between patients, providers, and internal departments to ensure efficient referral management.

  • Maintain patient flow through accurate coordination of referrals and appointments.

  • Accurately collect, document, and retrieve data using electronic and paper systems.

  • Perform patient registration, verify insurance, collect co-pays, obtain authorizations, and manage referral inquiries.

  • Assist in maintaining medical records and filing systems.

  • Provide clerical and administrative support; collaborate with multiple departments as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of insurance verification and referral processes.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Qualifications


Minimum 1-3 years experience in a medical office preferred. High school diploma or equivalent, Customer service, Oral and Written communication skills, Knowledge of medical terminology, Data entry skills, Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and teamwork.
