Heartland Goodwill Enterprises is seeking a full-time Groundskeeper to work at the Des Moines Courthouse and Federal Building. This position will complete exterior job assignments, projects, special events, and requests made by the government customers by learning to use all custodial and ground maintenance equipment. This job includes cleaning of canopies and all surfaces as well as the removal of graffiti, leaves, and other materials.

The Groundskeeper performs grounds maintenance such as landscaping, erosion management, maintenance of trees and shrubs, mulching, mowing, seeding, fertilizing, flower planting, aeration, weed maintenance, fence line maintenance, and watering. The Groundskeeper will work with the Custodial and Grounds Project Managers to ensure snow removal is completed in a timely fashion. The Groundskeeper also works with the Site Supervisor to check supply levels and keep all supplies filled.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Completion of exterior job assignments, projects, special events, and requests made by the government customer.
• Learn to use all custodial and ground maintenance equipment.
• Cleaning of canopies, surfaces, graffiti and other material removal, external policing, grounds maintenance services, landscaping, erosion management, tree and shrub maintenance, mulching, mowing, leaf removal, seeding, fertilizing, flower planting, aeration, weed maintenance, fence line maintenance, and watering.
• Perform custodial tasks as assigned
• Work in concert with the Custodial and Grounds Project Manager to ensure snow removal services are completed in a timely fashion as requested by the federal customer.
• Check supply levels and informing the Site Supervisor when they are needed and completing all work safely.
   

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• 2 years of previous grounds keeping or related experience.

Starting wage is $18.44 per hour plus a $4.93 per hour health & welfare stipend ($23.37 total). This position will work hours between the hours of 6a - 2:30p, with hours varying for snow removal as needed. Preference will be given to individuals with a disability.
