Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management:
- Supervise and manage a team of toxicology specimen collectors, ensuring high-quality performance.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate specimen collectors.
- Create and manage schedules for specimen collectors across various collection sites, ensuring adequate coverage and availability.
- Logistics Coordination:
- Oversee and coordinate the daily logistics of specimen collectors, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across collection locations.
- Manage travel arrangements for collectors to various sites, ensuring proper timing and availability.
- Collaborate with logistics teams and courier services to ensure the timely transport of specimens from collection sites to laboratory facilities.
- Ensure that collectors are equipped with necessary materials (kits, forms, etc.) at all times.
- Operational Oversight:
- Oversee the daily activities of specimen collection, ensuring compliance with chain of custody procedures and proper documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to toxicology testing, including DOT and non-DOT guidelines.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for collection activities, optimizing processes to increase efficiency and compliance.
- Quality Control & Compliance:
- Monitor the specimen collection process to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to protocols.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes (e.g., CLIA, CAP, HIPAA) and ensure all activities meet current standards.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in the collection or transportation of specimens.
- Client & Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding specimen collection logistics, answering inquiries and resolving issues.
- Work closely with healthcare professionals, laboratory staff, and external vendors to optimize collection and delivery processes.
- Provide detailed reports on collection metrics, logistics efficiency, staff performance, and operational outcomes to senior management.
- Training & Development:
- Design and deliver training programs for both new and existing specimen collectors to ensure adherence to best practices and compliance standards.
- Continuously improve training content based on new regulations, industry advancements, and feedback from field operations.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Equivalent work experience and associates degree considered
- At least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven experience in coordinating logistics, preferably in a medical or laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations for toxicology testing, including DOT and non-DOT collections.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage the logistical aspects of scheduling, travel, and resource allocation.
- Detailed knowledge of toxicology specimen collection procedures, chain of custody, and laboratory processes.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and laboratory information systems (LIS).
Working Conditions:
- Primarily based in a clinical or laboratory environment, with frequent travel to collection sites.
- Interaction with individuals undergoing substance testing, requiring professionalism and discretion.
