Position Title: Tote Room Operator 

Position Type: Regular - Full-Time ​

McCain Foods (Canada) is currently looking for a Toteroom Operator to join the Packaging Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 or GED would be considered an asset
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a forklift operators’ certificate
  • Able to work shift work, nights and weekends
  • Knowledge of lift trucks and proper driving procedures
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision, and get along well with others
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Required to visually inspect each pallet of before dumping in the line
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Lifting is required, approximately 40 kgs
  • Knowledge of WMS computer system is an asset


Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive in a defensive manner to prevent product damage or injury
  • Responsible for housekeeping of work area
  • Responsible for forklift battery rotation
  • Perform all other duties/tasks as assigned by packaging coach/shift coach
  • Filling out paperwork and entering data in WMS and SAP computer accurately and efficiently
  • Communicate any changes, issues, etc. to other operators. Must maintain all required documentation and check sheets
  • Must complete all documentation associated with position, including computer work with WMS and SAP
  • Various production tasks may be assigned as required
  • Complete vehicle operator’s checklist for lift truck to ensure lift truck is safe on the new shock watch system
  • Scanning totes in and out properly into the WMS and SAP systems
  • Storing totes properly into the racks
  • Ensure SQCDME targets are met by understanding and goal setting of KPI’s
  • Ensures packaging line is continuously and adequately supplied with product
  • Perform regular sanitation activities (i.e. breaking down cardboard totes, dumping reclaims and disposing of garbage
  • Required to operate the lift truck in cold room and tote/grading area
  • Must be able to work with chemicals
  • Must be willing to cross-train (lift-truck and clean up)
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Applicants must possess a good safety record and continually demonstrate “safety first.”  Selection of employees for promotion is based upon such factors as ability, special training, experience, prior PEP Ratings, attendance, ability to meet the physical demands of the position, education, length of service, and involvement in additional assignments.  Length of service will be the determining factor when all other factors are relatively equal.  Testing may be required depending on the position applied for. Interviews will held as necessary and those selected for interview are determined based on meeting the criteria as noted above. An evaluation period will be used to determine the candidate’s suitability to the position. Shifts are subject to change and are not guaranteed due to scheduling demands.
