Job Summary

This Program Director role presents an excellent opportunity to lead a passionate and skilled team dedicated to supporting children, youth, and young adults involved in the Y’s WISe (Wraparound with Intensive Services) program. The Program Director is responsible for supervising a group of care coordinators, each managing a caseload of up to 10 youth aged 0-20. The team’s work is guided by WISe principles, emphasizing family voice and choice, ensuring that services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. Collaborating closely with the WISe Program Director the Program Director ensures that the services provided are both client-centered and culturally sensitive, while also fostering strong partnerships with other WISe stakeholders in the community. 
 
This position is at the Social Impact Center, the social services branch of YGS. The mission of the Social Impact Center is to accelerate young people’s ability to build safe, successful and happy lives. Every year, we serve 5,000 children, youth, young adults, and families across King County with programs that aim to strengthen young people’s ability to develop to their fullest potential through four strategies: reducing risk factors; navigating systems towards successful life transition; ensuring stability, safety and wellness in times of crisis; and building competencies and social capital. The Social Impact Center programs include housing, behavioral health, foster care licensing, violence prevention, education, and employment. Many of the young people we serve have had involvement in the foster care, criminal justice system, and/or homelessness systems. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:  

You will direct the program development of the assigned program area(s). This position is responsible for ensuring continuity of program and services while providing oversight and development to program staff. 

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This position may also participate in afterhours on-call activities.

Hiring Range: $79,000 – 85,000 annually

Responsibilities:
  • Provides supportive and administrative supervision of assigned employees, including WISe Care Coordinators. Remains current in the latest trends of wraparound support interventions. Prepares written Performance Reviews twice a year for assigned employees.
  • Conducts regular individual supervision and team-specific meetings to support staff development, consults about treatment approaches, and assess for and address concerns of burnout. Holds regular staff meetings for team strengthening, policy and procedure review, and professional development.
  • Is trained in WISe Coaching. Attends community meetings with other WISe partners and maintains strong relationships among the community members. Assists the WISe program director in completing required tasks for WISe contract(s).
  • Collaborates with the WISe Program Director to support and strengthen case management and care coordination services within the Foster Care Services program.
  • Maintains a current credential per Washington State Department of Health guidelines.
  • Helps implement the policies and procedures of the agency, including personnel, treatment services, and records. Helps deliver on contract requirements.
  • Assists other leaders in updating of policies and procedures to meet contract requirements.
  • Provides insight about WISe Core Principles when consulting on cases. Supports teams in treatment decision-making.
  • Monitors the staff documentation and individual case records by periodically spot-checking case records from each staff and ensures timely documentation of services.
  • Compiles outcome data for WISe services; monitors and evaluates effectiveness of services.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, coaches and evaluates assigned staff. Organizes the panel hiring interview process when needed, in order to ensure a diverse and skilled staff team.
  • Reports to the WISe Program Director.
  • Maintains a caseload of 3.

Code of Conduct for Applicants

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field.
  • Two years or more of related work experience, with proven experience in working with youth and young adults in employment, foster care, group care, housing, education, juvenile justice, anti-poverty, vocational support, mental health, chemical dependency, and/or homelessness services fields.
  • One or more years of leadership experience, which can be any combination of team support, staff and/or volunteer supervision, program development, budget management, leadership development training and/or facilitation.
  • Strong engagement and relationship building skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with and knowledge of youth behavior management and child abuse prevention.
  • Intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to visit sites and community organizations.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, social services, or a closely related field.
  • Life experience with poverty, child welfare, homelessness, behavioral health, or youth violence and a desire to use that experience to improve the lives of others.
  • Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

Authorized Driver Requirement

This safety-sensitive role requires transporting clients as “authorized drivers” for the Y using your own vehicle. This offer is contingent upon meeting the following conditions: Being age 21+, having a valid driver's license for at least three years and possessing a driving record that meets Y standards (no more than two moving violations within the last three years, no significant incidents such as reckless driving, DUI/DWI, no tickets 20+ miles above the speed limit etc. within 5 years and proof of current auto insurance, and current vehicle registration is required. (*Due to state-specific reporting requirements in our fleet management system, we are not currently able to enroll California Driver's License holders as Authorized Drivers) You must also pass a drug screen that will test for impairing substances, including marijuana.
