Mortgage Loan Representative

Whatcom or Skagit County

Training will be onsite at Barkley Financial Center

Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | 40 hours per week


A Day in Your Life at Peoples Bank:

As a Mortgage Loan Representative, you’ll play a key role in helping individuals and families achieve their homeownership goals. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with lending experience to take the next step toward becoming a Mortgage Loan Officer. You’ll be responsible for originating residential real estate and digital consumer loans, while building strong relationships with internal and external business partners. Your efforts will support the Bank’s growth by driving business development and delivering exceptional service to our clients.


Your Primary Responsibilities Would Include:

  • Responding to customer inquiries and internal referrals regarding 1–4 family residential and portfolio real estate loans, providing knowledgeable and timely support.
  • Developing and nurturing referral relationships within the community and across the Bank to attract new mortgage loan applications. This includes making proactive sales calls to prospective business partners.
  • Conducting applicant interviews to assess financial eligibility by reviewing applications and supporting documentation. You’ll work closely with Senior Mortgage Loan Officers and Mortgage Management for guidance, training, and mentorship.
  • Managing your loan pipeline actively, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and delivering timely, smooth closings for customers.
  • Representing the Peoples Bank brand by participating in community events and public relations activities. You’ll seek opportunities to educate others about the Bank’s products and services and build lasting relationships with current and potential customers.
  • Researching loan products and investors to identify the best solutions tailored to each customer’s needs.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with Bank policies, government regulations, and secondary market guidelines.
  • Preparing high-quality loan packages for processing and underwriting, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Collaborating with underwriters to resolve guideline interpretations and facilitate efficient loan approvals.
  • Supporting the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Program by identifying opportunities to meet local credit needs and contribute to community development.
  • Staying current and compliant with all applicable Federal and State lending regulations.

Requirements

  

What You Bring to the Team:

  • A high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in consumer or mortgage lending, banking, or a related field.
  • Registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry, along with an active NMLS number. (If you don’t have one yet, we’ll guide you through the process and cover the fees.)
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships, with a focus on growth and community engagement.
  • A strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort using digital tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, professional etiquette, and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Clear and confident communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • A high level of professionalism and a strong sense of confidentiality.
  • Willingness and ability to drive to other Peoples Bank locations for meetings and training as well as, customer sites, and community events as needed.
  • An ability and commitment to model the Peoples Bank Mission, Vision, and Values—and a desire to contribute to a purpose-driven team.

We Offer Competitive Compensation:

Salary Range in Skagit and Whatcom County

Minimum to Maximum

$50,000 to $80.000 annually

In addition, you will receive commissions.
