General Notes

The Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at The University of Texas at Austin is one of the leading supercomputing centers in the world, supporting advances in computational research by thousands of researchers and students. TACC staff help researchers and educators use advanced computing, visualization, and storage technologies effectively, and conduct research and development to make these technologies more powerful, more reliable, and easier to use. TACC staff also educate and train the next generation of researchers, empowering them to make discoveries that advance knowledge and change the world.

Purpose

TACC is looking for a service oriented, proactive, and flexible student worker to provide support to the department's front desk reception and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage for the front desk. Welcome staff and visitors to the department. Check in visitors, print visitor badges, and notify TACC staff of visitor arrival. Ensure visitor badges are returned to the front desk after visit is over.
  • Receive packages on behalf of TACC and log information into the receiving log.
  • Check out permits to staff and visitors and log information into permit logs.  
  • Restock TACC breakrooms with drinks. Organize supply room office supplies.
  • Assist the Center Operations and Administrative (COA) team with setting up and breaking down events.
  • Review inventory at the front desk and supply rooms and notify COA team when more supplies are needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to collaborate with others and follow instructions.
  • Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 6 credit hours.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Willing to learn new skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Quick learner.
  • Team player.
  • Experience managing digital documents within UTBox or Google Docs.

Salary Range:

$15/hour + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • Typical Office Environment

Work Shift

  • Fall 2025 (Rehire eligible based on performance)
  • Flexible; weekly hours vary.
  • Work to be performed in-person, on campus.
