Job Description/Purpose: The Guest Experience Department is looking for an enthusiastic and team-oriented individual to help our department continue to succeed and represent the Zoo’s core values of Community, Creativity, Openness, Integrity and Life-Work Balance. The ideal candidate for this position would be a self-starter with flexibility and motivation to help our department be the best that it can be. This position will serve as the primary administrative support for the Guest Experience department. Maintains files, records, handbooks and other important elements in support of the Director of Guest Experience. This role will also be key in assisting the Director with the coordinating operations across both Saint Louis Zoo and WildCare Park campuses.
Additionally, the role will assist with both departmental and organizational training relative to the Guest Promise, our approach to how we interact, engage with and treat our guests. Lastly, the successful candidate will gain range of select operational experience for the department, to assist department leadership in the event that department leads are unavailable. This role will allow for a hybrid work situation to an extent, with a blend of days working at one of the campuses or from home. All successful candidates for this position must submit to a criminal background check.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide overall administrative support and operational support for the Director, including calendar management, meeting preparation, correspondence and special projects as requested.
- Assist Guest Experience Leadership team as requested and approved by the Director.
- Maintain clerical records for the main department, keeping a high level of detail and organization.
- Assist the Director with management of all turnkey programs, including records management, and processing payments as needed.
- Assist department leadership with coverage of operations in the event of a prolonged absence of a department lead.
- Assist the Director with Work Order management entry for the Guest Circulation Zones.
- Assist the department with the presentation of training programs relative to the Guest Promise, including presenting or teaching certain courses.
- Work collaboratively in a fast-paced and team-oriented atmosphere. Must be energetic and capable of working under pressure on multiple tasks.
- Demonstrate excellent communications skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Due to the nature of the Zoo being open 7 days a week, there will be a need for nights and weekends as assigned. Generally, one weekend day at least will be off as part of the regular schedule.
- This position will require traversing both campuses of the organization to an extent, along with office work.
- Must be able to drive to multiple campuses.
- Must be comfortable using technology, computer programs, and small electronics including smartphones, ticket scanners, printers, Microsoft Office Suite, and Point of Sale systems.
