Job Summary
ARA is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team. This role will be responsible for processing payroll, assist in the reconciliation of general ledger accounts, and assisting in ensuring accurate and timely financial records. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll systems, accounting principles, and compliance with federal and state regulations. The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
This position in fully onsite.
Essential Functions

- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts as instructed by supervisor.
- Prepare proposed journal entries and maintain accurate financial records for payroll and general ledger transactions.
- Verify Payroll Processing Firm has submitted timely and accurate payroll tax filings.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for management, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor and address payroll discrepancies, ensuring prompt resolution of any issues.
- Assist in audits by providing requested documentation and explanations related to payroll and general ledger transactions.

Experience and Skills
- 2+ years of experience in payroll processing and general ledger accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll tax regulations.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP) and accounting software (e.g., CostPoint).
- Knowledge of financial reporting and reconciliation processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.), with advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Education
- Associate’s degree in Accounting
