Position Summary: 

 

The Expedite Operations Team Lead supports the Manager in overseeing daily workflow and serves as the primary point of contact for the operator group. This role combines hands-on operational work with leadership responsibilities, including training new and existing team members, conducting regular file audits, and ensuring quality and compliance with company and customer requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinate daily workload and task assignments within the expedite operations group to meet service commitments.
  • Train new hires on processes, systems, and service expectations; provide ongoing skill development for current team members.
  • Conduct regular audits of shipment files to verify accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to customer specifications.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for operational questions and troubleshoot issues in real time.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain clear communication between team members and leadership to ensure priorities are understood and met.
  • Perform expedite operator duties as needed to support the team and meet deadlines.

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in expedite operations, freight forwarding, or a related logistics function.
  • Proven ability to train and mentor team members.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Proficient in relevant transportation management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

 

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.

Travel: 

  • 0-25%

 

Language Skills: 

  • This role requires superior verbal and written communication skills in English (Spanish is also preferred)

Physical Demands: 

  • This position requires the ability to work with the computer for long period of time.
