GENERAL STATEMENT

The Beach Pantry Marketing Assistant will play a dual role in building, maintaining and enhancing the online presence of ASI Beach Pantry Programs, including the ASI Beach Kitchen, Mobile Pantry, and the Laurén Chalmers ‘83 Beach Pantry by actively posting on Social Media channels including, but not limited to: Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and TikTok along with assisting in day-to-day pantry operations.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Assists in maintaining all Beach Pantry social media sites and profiles in accordance with ASI procedures and brand management. 
  1. Develops and schedules engaging digital and multimedia content, including blog posts, photos, videos, graphics, highlight success stories, and shares information related to food security and nutrition to promote pantry programs.
  1. Works with ASI Digital Media Manager to design and implement a social media strategy aligned with pantry program goals, identifying key messages and seasonal campaigns (e.g., holiday drives, special events) to enhance outreach and impact.
  1. Collaborates weekly with the Beach Pantry professional staff, and student leads to plan social media content, support upcoming events, update training materials, and strategize outreach based on target demographics.
  1. Manages social media engagement by responding to comments and inquiries promptly; uses social media platforms to recruit and coordinate volunteers; and organize online events or live sessions to boost community involvement and visibility.
  1. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of social media campaigns using analytic tools to track engagement metrics (e.g., likes, shares, comments, views); adjusts strategies based on data and feedback, and assists in preparing monthly performance reports across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn and TikTok.  
  1. Moderate all user generated content in line with the moderation policy for each channel.
  1. Assists in researching current trends in social media marketing. 
  1. Assist in day-to-day pantry operations, including but not limited to greet and assists students who utilize the ASI Beach Pantry programs, monitoring and maintaining inventory, keeping food pantry shelves stocked during distribution hours. 
  1. Attend all meetings, retreats, and training courses as directed.
  1. Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS   

 

Education and/or Experience 

A minimum of one semester of job-related experience or equivalent multi-task position required. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at CSULB and GPA of 2.0. 

 

Knowledge and Abilities 

Working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, & TikTok. Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset. Working knowledge of the iPhone X smartphone device and proficient in using Mac and PC computers. . Incumbent must be able to take initiative, be responsible and correct errors as needed. Must be a quick learner with the ability to assess situations and make sound, independent decisions. Ability to perform complex tasks without detailed supervision. Must also have strong presentation skills and the ability to speak, write and effectively communicate fluently in English. Good public relations skills are necessary.

  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

  • Electric Cart Training
  • CA Driver’s License

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

 

Schedule

Must be available to work evenings and weekends during the academic year. Hours during summer and winter breaks are to be determined by supervisor.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock from operation of audiovisual equipment, and vibration resulting from loud noises at rock concerts, movies, etc. Otherwise, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
