Clinical Pharmacist - Critical Care Focus
- Job Summary
- The Critical Care/Neuro Care Team pharmacist is responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for patients in medical and neurological intensive care or step-down units including order verification, rounds, and pharmacokinetic and therapeutic consultation.
- Responsibilities
- A Pharmacist is responsible for performance and/or supervision of various aspects of the medication use system including but not limited to: therapeutic recommendations, advocate for patient safety, preparation, distribution, monitoring, oversight of administration, and billing. This practitioner will be primarily based on the Critical Care/Neuro Care Team and may cross-cover other areas as needed. The pharmacist’s focus is on the quality of care through comprehensive medication management.
- Qualifications
- Critical care experience is preferred
- Residency training PGY1 or comparable acute care experience required
- Critical Care/Emergency Medicine PGY2 are preferred.
- Experience:
- Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in healthcare system pharmacy required.

- Education: 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) Certification; required. PhD, preferred. Doctorate of Pharmacy, preferred.
- Experience: Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy, required.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required.
- Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other approved certification must be obtained and continuously maintained within 2 years of start date as applicable to the role; excludes PRN team members who may not be eligible to take certification exam, required.
- Additional Skills Required: Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
