Wood is currently seeking a Technical Field Adviser for our Aftermarket Services Group to service the utility/industrial power boiler and HRSG installed base. The successful candidate will travel to power generating utility sites and perform boiler and HRSG inspections, support installation outages for both Wood and competitor equipment, and problem solve all structures and equipment associated with plant operation. While on-site, candidate will interact with the client staff and promote company products/services and provide direct feedback to home office on future services/supply opportunities. This role is Remote with 60-80% travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

Key Areas of Expertise

  • Utility boiler, industrial boiler and HRSG arrangements including support structures, ductwork, pressure parts, drums and attemperator systems.
  • Visual inspection of the boiler systems.
  • Operational understanding of boiler systems.
  • Coal pulverizer and burner/overfire system operation, inspection, maintenance and performance
  • Boiler performance testing and tuning.

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • Decision maker who can identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Self-motivated with good time management skills.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or related field. An associate degree with 5 years relevant experience or 7 years of relevant experience may be considered as a substitute for the BS requirement. At least 3 years’ experience in the commercial aspects of the engineering, fabrication, and construction business.
  • Must be able to deal with a variety of domestic and foreign clients. 
  • Overall, a minimum of 3 to 5 years career experience, with experience in the power industry a plus.
  • Solid PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, strong technical writing and presentation abilities
  • Must pass drug screen, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy

Requirements

  • Must be proficient in reading boiler and equipment drawings.
  • Proficient with documentation and report writing.
  • Extensive domestic and international travel is required, expected to be more than 70%.
  • Physical ability to enter boiler and auxiliary equipment through existing access doors and openings.
  • Willing and able to work in confined spaces and at heights.

 

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.  Note, this position will consider individuals with less experience than listed above but requires the willingness to expand skillset.
