TITLE: Multi-lingual Learner Program Coach

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s degree preferred); Valid teaching certificate; Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience with multilingual learners; Deep understanding of second language acquisition, teaching practices of WIDA standards; Demonstrated experience designing and delivering professional development for educators; Strong knowledge of research-based instructional strategies to support language development; Ability to analyze student data to inform instruction and coaching; Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills; Capacity to model effective instructional practices in classroom settings

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Multi-lingual Learner Program

 

JOB GOALS:

  • Enhance Instructional Practices: Support teachers in implementing effective, research-based instructional strategies that promote English language development and academic achievement for multilingual learners across content areas.
  • Provide Professional Development: Design and deliver high-quality professional learning experiences focused on the WIDA English Language Development Standards, and scaffolding strategies for MLs.
  • Support Data-Driven Instruction: Assist educators in analyzing language proficiency data, classroom assessments, and student work to inform instruction and tailor supports for multilingual learners.
  • Model and Co-Teach Effective Lessons: Collaborate with classroom teachers to model and co-plan lessons that integrate language development and content learning.
  • Stay Informed and Current: Engage in continuous learning to stay abreast of current research, best practices, and policy updates in the field of multilingual education.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Instructional Coaching & Support

  • Provide ongoing instructional coaching to teachers working with multilingual learners, including modeling effective strategies, co-teaching, and lesson planning support.
  • Facilitate reflective conversations with teachers to improve instruction and student outcomes.

Professional Development

  • Design and lead professional development sessions on best practices for supporting MLs, including the use of WIDA standards, and scaffolding techniques.
  • Support teachers in integrating language objectives with content standards across all grade levels and subjects.

Curriculum and Instructional Support

  • Collaborate with instructional staff to ensure curriculum materials and assessments are accessible to multilingual learners.
  • Assist in the development and adaptation of instructional resources to meet the needs of diverse language learners.

Data Analysis and Progress Monitoring

  • Guide teachers in interpreting language proficiency data and academic assessments to inform instruction.
  • Monitor student progress and support the implementation of interventions as needed.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between classroom teachers, ML teachers, administrators, and families to support student success.
  • Participate in school and district meetings related to multilingual learner programming and initiatives.

Professional Growth

  • Stay current with research, trends, and policies in multilingual education through ongoing professional learning.
  • Share new insights and strategies with colleagues to enhance instructional effectiveness and program improvement.

TERMS: Salary to be determined

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in compliance with the Board’s policy on evaluation and professional personnel.
