Summary:

Assists laboratory technologists in performing a variety of tasks which require a high level of responsibility and sound judgment. Performs all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements, organizational, and departmental policies and procedures.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for laboratory testing, quality control, quality assurance, analyzer maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare specimens for send out when needed.
  • Operate laboratory equipment including analyzers, centrifuges and other ancillary equipment.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, clean lab equipment and work surfaces, maintain laboratory logs, and perform proficiency testing.
  • Stock and order lab supplies, as needed.
  • Report and document critical results.
  • Document test cancellations and specimen identification errors in Origami.
  • Monitor the pending list and address missing/ pending specimens with the clinics.
  • Assists with training of new employees.
  • Administration of quality assurance (QA) functions including coordination, monitoring, and documentation of quality assurance processes for manager review.
  • Responsible for preventive maintenance of certain instrumentation with appropriate documentation.
  • Assists with inventory, purchasing and receiving for assigned areas.
  • Assists with document control processes relating to updates to SOP, forms, TOC, as well as safety information manuals (SDS).
  • Basic reagent and controls preparation.
  • Additional tasks as assigned to support the team.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior laboratory or medical office experience preferred.
