Manager, Policy and Design

Salary $95,000 - $119,000 

Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to local labor market conditions, educational background, work experience, and relevant certifications 

Job Type: Full-Time Permanent

Location: IB (International Baccalaureate®) Washington DC 

Hybrid, Open to Remote 

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and support for the work of the Policy and Design team 
  • Contributes to the planning and execution of the long-term Policy & Design agenda, with attention to continuous improvement, large-scale redesigns, and organization-driven change.  
  • Leads efforts to develop and maintain documentation of P&D operations and processes.
  • Facilitates collaboration with assigned IB partner organizations, ensuring that all aspects of MOU’ s are met while maintaining and improving the IB’s strategic relationships.
  • Engages in the P&D team’s work to facilitate the development and implementation of organization-wide policies related to IB’s strategic priorities.
  • Provides leadership for the creation of assigned Authorization and Evaluation content, resources and services 
  • Leads the initial development of P&D content and resources.
  • Leads P&D’s end-to-end publication processes, collaborating with the translation and editorial teams to ensure that content is consistently high-quality, up-to-date, accurate, and user-friendly.
  • Leads P&D end-to-end collaboration with the IB’s web and Programme resource center teams to ensue P&D content and resources are high quality, up-to-date, accurate, and user-friendly.  
  • Leads P&D BAU content and system updates and revisions.
  • Along with the Policy & Design team, collaborates with the IB’s PD, PDD, and IBEN teams to conceptualize and develop training and upskilling for P&D-process related IBEN roles.
  • Provides leadership and analytical expertise for information gathering and needs analysis 
  • Manages Policy and Design contractors, IBEs and SMEs
  • Along with Senior Manager, Policy & Design, recruit contractors and IBE’s to support P&D work.
  • Provides oversight and guidance to contractors, IBE’s and internal SMEs supporting P&D work to help them understand their roles, develop appropriate timeframes, and ensure they are producing usable, high-quality work.
     

Qualifications

Job Requirements: 

About You

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience in the education sector (teaching or school administration, educational service or product provision, or educational nonprofit program leadership)
  • In-depth knowledge of one or more IB programmes; MYP or DP experience highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of IB authorization or evaluation.
  • Experience engaging external stakeholders in the field of school or programme improvement (or similar area)
  • Experience supervising project staff or contractors.
  • Experience in – or ability to develop the skills for– data gathering and analysis to inform the improvement or creation of services or products. 
  • School-level IB experience, administering/managing one or more IB programmes, or experience as an IB educator, in one or more authorization- or evaluation related roles, highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytic and critical thinking abilities
  • Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels from across the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and achieve results under pressure.
  • Strong ability to develop, plan, prioritize and manage new initiatives and their successful implementation within the education or similar sector.
  • Ability to encourage and facilitate collaboration across departments and stakeholder groups.
  • Strong understanding of technology and how it can be applied to effectively deliver services and gather data to continuous improvement of and development of new service and resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and positively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels and across multiple cultural contexts
  • Excellent attention to detail in developing and improving policies, documents and other resources
  • Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft suite (i.e. Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Familiarity with current global educational trends, education policy, and international education.
  • Ability to demonstrate drive for ongoing innovation and improvement.
  • Flexibility to work outside traditional office hours and travel internationally as needed.
  • Knowledge of Spanish and/or French highly desirable
