JOB SUMMARY
 Our Mechanical Engineer’s play a key role in supporting low-volume, high-complexity coil manufacturing within an FDA-regulated environment. This position involves providing extensive technical and process support across multiple departments, including Line Production, R&D, Service, Quality, Purchasing, and Planning. This position plays a large role in supporting and troubleshooting 3D printers used in the manufacturing process.

 The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a variety of tasks. This multifaceted role requires both independent work and collaboration within cross-functional teams. The engineer will also lead projects, managing them autonomously and driving them to successful completion.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide continual leadership to improve quality and reduce cost of manufacturing processes as a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team
  • Management of Manufacturing Engineering projects
  • Drafting and Mechanical Design – including:
    • ECO drafting support
    • Design and creation of tooling and fixtures
    • Tooling and fixturing design improvements 
    • Supplying mechanical and materials expertise to the team
  • Life-cycle support, including Production, Process and Service support
    • New product introduction (NPI) support
    • Process improvements and Continuing Engineering
    • Supplier, Vendor and Customer technical support
    • Assembly documentation
  • Mechanical assembly troubleshooting 
  • Traditional manufacturing engineering, including documentation and change orders (ECOs)

  • Traditional manufacturing engineering, including documentation and change orders (ECOs)

QUALIFICATIONS

Education 

  • 4 year degree, with BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred

Required Experience and Skills

  • At least two years’ experience working in a professional environment 
  • Fixture Design Experience
  • Experience with Engineering Change Orders
  • Experience writing Work Instructions/Manufacturing Routers
  • Recent college graduates will be considered for this position with a minimum of one substantive professional internship, co-op or university lab. 
  • Competency with SolidWorks or other drafting software - minimum one year experience
  • Competency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel)
  • Fluent in English with above average writing skills

Preferred Experience and Skills

A preferred candidate will have experience in one or more of the areas noted below.   An ideal candidate will have Project Management experience. 

  • Project Management experience
    • Cross Functional Team leadership
    • Schedule management
    • Budget management
  • Experience with 3D Printing
    • Design for 3D printing 
    • Production line trouble shooting including assembly processes, equipment, and developing equipment preventive maintenance, especially 3D printing.
  • Experience as Advanced Manufacturing Engineer or New Product Introduction Engineer
    • New Product Introduction
    • Design for Manufacturability (DFM); Design to Cost (DtC)
    • Process Improvement and/or Continuing Engineering
    • Process validation, including development of validation protocols
    • Production line troubleshooting – assembly 
    • 5S and Lean manufacturing
  • Automated Assembly experience
    • LabView software programming
    • Automation technologies
    • Design for Automation
  • Production Support experience
    • Competency in any ERP or PLM software (SAP, Agile, Dynamics GP, etc.)
    • Writing assembly manuals 
    • Instructor experience (any subject)
    • Familiarity with Change Orders (ECO)
    • Quality Management System Support, including knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. ISO, FDA, etc.)
    • Purchasing and Vendor support
