General Position Summary:
The Banquet Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of banquet operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and achieving financial goals. This role also provides leadership coverage across Food & Beverage outlets at both the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass, particularly during non-peak event periods. The Space Needle is a represented environment, and this position requires a strong understanding of union operations and collaboration with union representatives. The Banquet Manager plays a key role in coordinating with culinary, event planning, and operations teams to deliver seamless, high-quality events while maintaining public-facing readiness of both venues.
Essential Functions:
- Lead banquet operations with a focus on service excellence, guest satisfaction, and financial performance.
- Provide leadership coverage in Food & Beverage outlets across both properties during non-peak event periods.
- Review and understand the collective bargaining agreement; work in partnership with the shop steward to ensure union rules are followed.
- Assist in establishing new practices while honoring past practices as defined by the union and team.
- Collaborate closely with the culinary team to standardize and elevate food and beverage presentation for events.
- Partner with the event planning team to support custom beverage requests and complex logistics requiring operational insight.
- Manage event beverage inventory, including ordering, tracking, and reconciliation.
- Monitor and control event beverage and labor costs to meet budgetary targets.
- Supervise hourly team members across all Food & Beverage operations.
- Maintain quality assurance standards for both service and culinary teams.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, WISHA, and Fair Labor Standards across all banquet and outlet operations.
- Promote a safe, healthy, and professional work environment.
- Provide ongoing feedback to the Director of Food & Beverage regarding operational challenges and opportunities.
- Review guest feedback with restaurant and kitchen teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Plan and execute events ranging in size from 20 to 5,000 guests, requiring high levels of organization and attention to detail.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during events, ensuring satisfaction and resolving issues in real time.
- Set up events from ground zero and ensure complete breakdown and reset of spaces post-event, maintaining public-facing readiness for the following day.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Food & Beverage.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support the VP and Director of Food & Beverage in driving departmental growth and strategic initiatives.
- Represent the company professionally within the community.
- Utilize systems including Word, Excel, and Toast POS
- Maintain flexible availability to lead events on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Adapt to variable scheduling based on event demands and outlet coverage needs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in banquet or event operations, with financial accountability in service and beverage.
- Previous experience working in a union environment is a strong asset.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, motivation, and team development skills.
- Passion for hospitality and Food & Beverage excellence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Professional demeanor and collaborative spirit.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Full Time, Hourly Position
Hourly Rate: $40.00 - $45.00 / hour DOE
