The job of Physical Education Assistant is for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program by assisting in a variety of instructional activities, with individual students or in groups, to support a standards-based physical education program at the elementary and/or middle school level; and providing clerical support to teachers and staff.
This job reports to the Site Administrator or designee.

Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from secondary school or equivalent GED and some experience working with elementary school-age children in an organized educational or other structured setting with athletic activities.
Incumbents must meet requirements specified under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Special Qualifications include:
• Completed at least two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education OR
• Obtained an associate’s or higher degree (college level) OR
• Met (pass) a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
This is a promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test or performance test and a structured oral interview.
To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each test part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each test part. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future permanent and substitute vacancies.

Date of Examination
Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
