The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring employees are accurately and timely compensated while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively Maintain safe operations for all employees in their area of responsibility and drive safe work practices throughout the organization.
- Processing payroll accurately and on time, including calculating wages, deductions, and benefits.
- Collecting and verifying timesheet information.
- Initiating direct deposits and/or preparing paychecks.
- Handling payroll tax filings and reporting, such as W-2s and 941s.
- Processing annual salary increases, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments.
- Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring data entry is timely and precise.
- Ensuring payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Staying updated on changes in payroll laws and communicating them as needed.
- Processing and monitoring garnishment orders and other deductions impacting payroll.
- Maintaining and documenting all payroll records.
- Reconciling the general ledger regarding payroll transactions.
- Generating and analyzing payroll reports for management and auditors.
- Responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and concerns.
- Resolving payroll discrepancies and addressing uncollected payroll issues.
- Working closely with the HR and accounting departments to ensure accurate employee records and smooth payroll operations.
- Collaborating to improve payroll processes.

Required Experience:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Three to five years of payroll experience required.
- Experience with multi-state payroll is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems (ADP experience is a plus).
