Job Title: Production Trainer
Summary – Describe the primary purpose of this job.
The Manufacturing Trainer should be a highly-motivated and self-directed individual with a proven track-record of working with and leading production personnel. The Manufacturing Trainer will have accountability to manage the Training Program. This role includes training needs for Shift Supervisors, Process and Specialty Chemical Leads, and Operators, as well as for accomplishing training goals to support the site and business strategies. The Manufacturing Trainer will serve as the contact for site management and work with Human Resources to maintain a consistent training program. The Manufacturing Trainer will work directly with Process Owners and the Quality Department to improve and maintain a robust operating procedure program. The Manufacturing Trainer will work to increase overall employee productivity, performance and effectiveness through the use of standardized, personalized and/or automated training systems. The Manufacturing Trainer will adhere to site safety requirements and promote a positive safety culture, leading by example. The Manufacturing Trainer will embrace, demonstrate and promote Halocarbon’s Core Values of Caring, Curiosity, Collaboration, and Competitive Spirit. The Manufacturing Trainer will adhere and train staff to follow all current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) as well as the specialty chemical and pharmaceutical quality system requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Train chemical operators, shift supervisors, and process/specialty chemical leads in accordance with applicable regulatory and Halocarbon standards which includes initial training and refresher training as defined in policy and procedures. Continuously improve and mold Halocarbons training program and techniques to ensure employees understand and adheres to the current operating procedures and maintains appropriate documentation throughout the process. Help build troubleshooting knowledge throughout the ranks of the Operations Team. Innovate ways to capture tribal knowledge and standardize troubleshooting techniques.
- Collaborate with Process Owners, Quality Department, and EHS Department to improve and maintain robust documents (e.g., standard operating procedures (SOPs)) to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and Halocarbon standards including, but not limited to: 1) Procedure Writing Trainer 2) Compliance with OSHA 1910.119 PSM Operating Procedure Section 3) Support role in the SOP annual certification process. 4) Compliance to ICH Q7 and ISO9001 principles
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Quality, and EHS to ensure training is documented, retained, certified, and stored in accordance with Halocarbon and applicable regulatory standards and regulations.
- Coordinate assessment and application of process knowledge of operating personnel, ensure effectiveness of training systems through evaluations, and deliver training to close identified performance gaps.
- On-going development and maintenance of all plant/unit training materials including: 1) Job Progressions 2) Study Guides 3) Test Questions.
Education and/or Experience – List the minimum level of education and/or experience.
- High School Diploma, General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent. Technical school or higher is a positive.
- Ability to successfully train others on Halocarbon manufacturing processing units.
- 5 years of chemical operator experience.
- Coordinating projects/initiatives.
- Strong project management.
- Strong Organizational Skills.
- Experience in production management and planning.
Analytical Ability/Problem Solving/Technical skills – List minimum level of skills (i.e. computer/software proficiency, level of analytical complexity, problem solving scope, etc.)
- Confident and skilled in verbal and written communications.
- Confident and effective presentation skills.
- cGMP and Quality System knowledge is preferred.
- Research and understand applicable regulatory standards
- Demonstrated excellent troubleshooting and conflict resolution skills.
- Computer literacy a must including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point and SharePoint).
Safety/Essential Functions
- Commitment for a strong safety culture is a requirement. Leads by example.
- Must understand the hazards of chemicals and equipment.
- Must be capable of working in an environment where chemical odors may exist at permissible threshold limits of exposure.
- Must be able to safely handle hazardous chemicals on a regular basis.
- Must be capable of working in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.) with or without full acid gear.
- Must be able to use all available or assigned personal protective equipment and tools.
- Must be capable of lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to use equipment within its design limits (weight limit on a ladder, for example).
- Must be able to evacuate the plant, reporting to appropriate assigned muster point, in the event of an emergency or drill.
- Must be able to climb and descend stairs and ladders.
Level of Supervision Needed – List the type and extent of supervision received by this job (i.e., accountability, project management, etc.)
- Accountable to be self-directed with guidance from Operational Excellence Leader.
- Accountable for completing the different stages of the training program in a timely manner.
- Responsible for maintaining all necessary documentation in an orderly and legible manner.
