SALARY & FLSA: $38.80 - $44.32 per hour; FLSA non-exempt
The starting rate for this role is $38.80. Every employee under the Joint Crafts Council wage scale, on first appointment, will receive the first step of the salary range for the position. Employees will advance to the second step at the start of the pay period after their one-year anniversary in the job classification and each milestone thereafter (3 years, 6 years, 11 years, and 17 years of service) with Step 6 being the maximum pay rate.

WHO YOU ARE
As our new Exhibit Signage Technician, we know you will be successful in this role because you are:
- Have A Creative Mind: You have a strong artistic background with creative problem-solving skills.
- Fabrication Experience: You have fabrication abilities in all mediums (e.g. wood, metal, concrete, fiberglass, plastics, and composites).
- Proficient in drawing: You are proficient in drawing and drafting are able to communicate concepts and design and produce working drawings.
- Love variety in your workday: You work both indoors and outdoors carrying out a variety of tasks with new projects popping up frequently.
YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates computer and related software to prepare signage layout.
Operates current Ioline smart trac sign cutter to prepare vinyl graphics used in the fabrication of signs
Prepares various substrates for and executes the application of vinyl and adhesive print graphics.
Operates a service cart and a variety of equipment for the production, construction, maintenance, repair, alterations, and installation of signage.
Manages the Sign shops tool collection and supplies such as: animal artifacts, seasonal signs, plastics, banners, illustrations, sign hardware, and back-up sign frames.
Performs inventory of all Sign Shop content.
Participates in ordering materials and supplies.
Research existing and new materials and technology for the construction of signage
Assist in preparing and finalizing schematic designs / documents for interpretive signs and interactives, and fabricate elements as needed.
Performs construction, maintenance, repair or alteration work related to exhibit signage.
Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- AutoCAD or other drawing program experience.
- Familiarity with electrical, sound and video technologies applicable to displays.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining organizational consistency with both physical materials and digital elements.
- Proficient with Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Successful applicants must live and work in Washington State to perform this role.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid WA driver's license with a safe driving history.
