Job Description:

The Onsite Fabrication Manager will directly supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers, such as inspectors, precision workers, machine setters and operators, assemblers, fabricators, and plant and system operators. Excludes team or work leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for production performance across all shifts
  2. Ensures that shop floor performance meets company expectation with regards to safety, production output levels, scrap levels, expense budgets, quality levels PPM performance, impacts to gross margin performance and labor budgets
  3. Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints. 
  4. Ensures shop floor disciplines / programs are implemented, controlled and maintained to achieve expected operational metric and enhance efficiencies 
  5. Ensures that facility maintains correct inventory trends to meet customer sales projections and any pre-build quantities. 
  6. Works closely with Material Management in execution of production schedules and maintains ability to react to changes in weekly production requirements 
  7. Ensures training programs for shop floor personnel are executed to proper level. 
  8. Makes recommendation to required education/training necessary for operators. 
  9. Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports to detect production problems. 
  10. Involvement with maintenance projects/priorities to ensure machine set-up and plant maintenance is adequate to performance expectation
  11. Responsibility to meet all customer ship schedules on time and with expected quality levels. 
  12. Responsible for executing all existing shop programs and being innovative toward driving results toward better metric execution including but not limited to scrap reduction, production efficiencies, safer workplace, and 5S. 
  13. Responsible for 5S and overall cleanliness/organization of work areas within and around the facility. 
  14. Contact with local, state and federal officials regarding operational requirements and ordinances. 
  15. Manage the operation/processes of the facility in order to ensure that production goals are met with the highest quality standards. 
  16. Meet and exceed the needs of our customers.

Qualifications, Experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a focus on fabrication, production, maintenance, or logistics.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing principles and practices, with optional training in Six Sigma.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for data analysis, communication, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and mentor supervisors and team leads for continuous improvement.
  • Basic understanding of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations and practices.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive results, manage resources effectively, and foster a collaborative work environment.
