Position Overview:

Shodair Children’s Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Outpatient Therapist to join our dedicated outpatient clinic team. This licensed clinician will provide therapeutic services to children and families, facilitate assessments and treatment planning, and support clients in achieving their mental health goals. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, collaborative, and passionate about improving the lives of youth and their families.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat mental health disorders in children and families
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy, as well as crisis intervention when needed
  • Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and facilitate discharge planning
  • Deliver psychoeducation to clients and caregivers
  • Create and implement behavior plans when appropriate
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members to coordinate care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation per clinical and regulatory standards
  • Participate in clinical meetings, treatment team reviews, and required supervision
  • Support clients with safety planning and referrals at discharge

  • Strong clinical skills in evidence-based therapy models
  • Experience with children and their families
  • Solid understanding of child development and psychiatric disorders
  • Effective communication, organization, and crisis management abilities
  • Cultural competence and professional ethics
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Physical ability to engage in active therapeutic settings when needed

Requirements

Education, training and experience

  • 2 years of experience working with children preferred.
  • Evidence of training and/or experience in individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Must possess advanced skills in oral and written communication, as well as working knowledge of various theories, their implications, and human development.

Certification/licensure

  • Current candidates license in the state of Montana (PCLC, SWLC, etc.)
  • Eligible for licensure as LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, or psychologist in the State of Montana and actively working towards Montana licensure per the board of Behavioral Health requirements.
