Job Summary:

The Senior Vice President of Operations is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for overseeing and optimizing all operational functions across the pharmacy business. This role will lead strategic planning, business process improvement, regulatory compliance, and performance management to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective pharmacy operations. The Sr. VP will drive innovation, scalability, and operational excellence while maintaining a strong focus on patient care and service quality. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operational Leadership

- Lead day-to-day operations for all pharmacy services including retail, specialty, mail-order, and clinical programs.

- Drive operational performance and continuous improvement across multiple sites and distribution centers.

- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including DEA, FDA, CMS, and Board of Pharmacy requirements.

- Oversee the implementation of pharmacy automation, inventory management, and workflow optimization strategies.

2. Strategic Planning & Execution

- Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute long-term growth strategies.

- Identify opportunities for expansion, partnerships, acquisitions, and new service lines.

- Translate strategic plans into actionable goals and KPIs for operational departments.

3. Team Management & Leadership

- Lead and develop a high-performing operations team, including pharmacy directors, compliance officers, logistics managers, and clinical support staff.

- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

4. Quality & Compliance

- Ensure adherence to quality assurance programs and accreditation standards (e.g., URAC, ACHC, NABP).

- Mitigate risk by implementing policies, training programs, and audit systems.

5. Customer & Patient Experience

- Champion service excellence by improving customer satisfaction and patient outcomes.

- Collaborate with pharmacy services, clinical teams, and call centers to enhance care delivery and patient engagement.

6. Financial Oversight

- Develop and manage the operations budget.

- Analyze financial statements and operational metrics to optimize cost, margin, and profitability.

- Lead productivity, utilization, and waste reduction initiatives.

7. Regular and reliable attendance expected. 

8. Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. 

 Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (PharmD or MBA strongly preferred).
  2. 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in pharmacy operations, healthcare delivery, or pharmaceutical services.
  3. Deep understanding of pharmacy industry regulations, reimbursement models, and operational best practices.
  4. Demonstrated success in managing multi-site operations, supply chain, and compliance.
  5. Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  6. Experience in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies preferred.
  7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  8. Retail and specialty pharmacy operations.
  9. Health plan or PBM operations.
  10. Working with EHRs, pharmacy systems (e.g., QS/1, PioneerRx, McKesson, Cardinal), and automation technology.
  11. Leading teams through mergers, expansions, or major transformation initiatives.
  12. Position is located in Memphis, TN.
