Hybrid Recreation Assistant- Opera House bei City of Marysville, WA

About the Department

Seasonal, part-time position with various working hours.

Ideal candidate must be available to work weekday, evening, and weekend hours.
 
This position is responsible for the setup, monitoring and closing of events and private building rentals at the Marysville Opera House. Candidate must feel comfortable working alone and be self-reliant to complete assigned tasks. In addition, they may be asked to assist with a variety of recreational programs supported by the Parks, Culture and Recreation department. 
 
Candidate must have knowledge of audio visual, and ability to help at City and private events. The position works a various number of hours, and candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends. 
 
Must be able to lift 25 pounds, and walk up and down stairs.

Position Duties

1. Supervise groups of the public, children or teenagers in a variety of recreational activities, including games, arts and crafts, athletics and special events.
2. Staff summer programs for children ages tiny tots - teens.
3. Instruct participants in good citizenship, sportsmanship, and safety.
4. Represents the City and the Parks Department; effectively communicates and interacts with program participants, parents, park neighbors, school district personnel, and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications

• Previous experience working with youth and supervising youth recreational activities is preferred.
• Must be at least 16 years of age; parent/school authorization form required for employees under 18 years of age.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check required for employees working with minors.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Must possess, or have the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Provide own transportation to work site.
