Position Overview
Eastlake High School, home of the Wolves, is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered High School Counselor (0.5 FTE, Long-Term Substitute) to join our dynamic counseling department. The successful candidate will provide academic, social-emotional, and college/career guidance through proactive programming and individualized support. The counselor will also play a vital role in helping students meet high school graduation requirements, develop post-secondary plans, and build meaningful relationships with peers, staff, and families. The dates for this long-term substitute position are 9/2/2025-12/19/2025. Hours and days per week worked will be determined collboratively with school administration.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual counseling to students regarding academic progress, goal setting, social-emotional needs, and college/career planning
Monitor student progress toward high school graduation requirements and assist with academic planning and scheduling
Collaborate effectively with other counselors in a large and highly supportive department to ensure consistency and continuity of services
Communicate proactively with families regarding student needs, concerns, and progress
Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide guidance programming
Participate in student support team meetings and help develop and monitor academic and behavioral interventions
Maintain accurate and confidential student records
Serve as a resource and advocate for students, families, and staff
Qualifications
Washington State ESA certificate with School Counsleor endorsement
Demonstrated knowledge of high school graduation requirements and post-secondary pathways
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with students, families, and staff
Experience in or openness to working in a collaborative, team-based counseling environment
Commitment to supporting all students with empathy, equity, and high expectations
Preferred Qualities
Experience with student information systems and college/career readiness tools
Bilingual or multicultural background
Familiarity with mental health resources and referral processes
Salary: Long-term substitute assignments in excess of twenty (20) days will be paid at the contract teacher rate. See
LWEA salary schedule posted on website. This position does not meet requirements for state health benefits.
Long Term Substitute Assignments: Long-term substitute assignments in excess of twenty (20) days will be paid at the contract teacher rate, retroactive to the first day of assignment, except that when, in the judgment of Human Resources, the assignment appears at the onset to be a long-term assignment, the contract teacher rate may be paid from the beginning of the assignment.

current CBA.
