Experience in Environmental Education, Outdoor Education, Science Education, Physical Education, or a related field
Current valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement(s)

JOB DESCRIPTION: The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruction: Design and implement engaging outdoor-focused lessons that align with academic standards in science, environmental studies, and physical education.
Field-Based Learning: Lead hikes, field studies, nature observation, outdoor skills training, and environmental projects. Incorporate seasonal and regional ecological topics.
Student Engagement: Foster curiosity, confidence, teamwork, and leadership through inquiry-based and project-based learning in outdoor settings.
Safety & Preparedness: Ensure student safety during all outdoor activities. Teach and model proper outdoor safety, risk management, and Leave No Trace principles.
Curriculum Integration: Collaborate with core content teachers to integrate outdoor exploration into interdisciplinary units and school-wide initiatives.
Assessment: Evaluate student learning through projects, journals, reflections, and performance-based assessments. Provide feedback to support academic and personal growth.
Resource Management: Maintain outdoor equipment, coordinate field experiences, and manage materials for outdoor classroom use.
Community Partnerships: Develop connections with local parks, environmental organizations, and outdoor education programs to enrich student learning experiences.
Professional Development: Stay current with trends in outdoor education and participate in relevant training and workshops.
Communication: Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff about program goals, schedules, and expectations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work primarily takes place in a school setting, with occasional off-site meetings, trainings, or events.
May require some evening or weekend hours to accommodate school events, meetings, or activities.
