About Align Production Systems

At Align Production Systems, we design and build advanced material handling and automation equipment for the toughest industrial challenges — from aerospace and automotive to defense and beyond. Our mission is to create smarter, safer, and more efficient production environments for our customers.

Your Impact

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Strategic Account Manager (SAM) to expand our presence throughout our target market segments, with a primary focus on the national automotive segment. Based in the Detroit area, you’ll be the key commercial lead for top-tier OEM and Tier 1 customers, helping them solve complex production challenges with our custom capital equipment solutions.

You’ll own the full sales cycle — from discovery and technical proposal development to project coordination and post-sale support — while building deep, lasting partnerships across engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams.

What You’ll Do

🔹 Develop Automotive Relationships

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned OEM and Tier 1 accounts
  • Build trust across engineering, operations, and executive levels
  • Act as a consultative partner to align our solutions with the customer’s production goals

🔹 Drive Sales & Opportunity Management

  • Lead the entire customer life cycle through prospecting, quoting, proposal writing, negotiation, and closing
  • Develop growth strategies for existing accounts and uncover new business opportunities
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and scope while balancing customer value and company goals

🔹 Create Tailored Technical Solutions

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Estimating, and Project Management teams to develop engineered-to-order solutions
  • Ensure alignment between quoted solutions and final deliverables, including drawings and scope management
  • Support change order negotiations and scope clarifications as needed

🔹 Champion the Customer Experience

  • Conduct regular account reviews and plant visits
  • Represent Align at industry trade shows and networking events
  • Provide post-sale support and issue resolution across all project phases

🔹 Maintain CRM & Pipeline Accuracy

  • Accurately track all account activity in CRM (e.g., HubSpot) with extreme attention to detail
  • Provide accurate forecasts, identify risks, and share insights with leadership

What You Bring

Experience

  • 5+ years in technical sales, account management, or business development, ideally with engineered equipment or automation solutions
  • Proven experience working with automotive OEM or Tier 1 suppliers

Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of capital equipment in production environments
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage both engineers and executives
  • Tech-savvy with CRM platforms and Microsoft 365

Mindset

  • Results-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing long sales cycles
  • Organized, data-driven, and able to work cross-functionally
  • Willing to travel up to 50–70% across the Midwest and nationally
