Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive-level oversight and governance across all vehicle programmes.
- Lead programme planning, milestone definition, risk management, and stakeholder reporting.
- Ensure alignment of technical content with programme deliverables, budget and timing.
- Champion robust engineering processes, gate reviews and configuration control.
- Ensure technical alignment across systems engineering, integration, and architecture.
- Drive resolution of engineering issues impacting timing, performance or programme delivery.
- Manage and develop the Chief Engineers responsible for the overall technical delivery of each vehicle programme
- Coordinating vehicle engineering, collaborating with both physical and virtual validation activities.
- Ensure vehicle-level attributes (performance, safety, quality, cost) are clearly defined and achieved.
- Own the virtual simulation strategy.
- Support and challenge engineering decision-making to maintain technical integrity.
- Balance technical innovation with design for manufacturability, serviceability and compliance.
- Maintain strong cross-functional engagement with design, development, purchasing and manufacturing.
- Build, manage and inspire a high-performing vehicle engineering and programme team.
- Develop future leaders and succession planning within the Chief Engineer and Programme teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and customer focus.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Significant experience in a senior vehicle engineering and/or programme leadership role in the automotive or advanced engineering sector.
- Proven track record of delivering complex vehicle programmes from concept to launch.
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems, integration, and cross-functional programme delivery.
- Experience managing cross-discipline engineering & project teams.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and commercial awareness.
- Degree in Automotive, Mechanical or Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in niche, low-volume, or high-performance vehicle programmes.
