JOB SUMMARY:
The ALS Provider role is a fun and exciting way to join the on-mountain ski industry and the Monarch family within the Monarch Ski Patrol Department. This department is an upbeat, active, and outdoor department that provides opportunities to earn and play in the mountains. The ALS Provider will serve in a variety of roles within Monarch Mountain and Monarch Ski Patrol. They will act as Advanced Life Support on days they are scheduled and assist patrol in those duties. ALS may be asked to provide assistance with any number of respiratory related illnesses that may be circulating in our community. The ALS Provider will work with the Assistant Director of Mountain Operations and the Director of Mountain Ops to implement and oversee the infection control plan for Monarch Mountain as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The ALS Provider responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work in conjunction with other employees and departments as part of the Monarch team.
- Perform Advanced Life Support for Monarch guests as needed.
- Provide in-season learning opportunities for patrol on various medical related topics.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of medical supplies.
- Oversee and work with the Director of Mountain Operations and the Assistant Director of Mountain Ops on the implementation of the Monarch Mountain Infectious Disease Preparedness, Response and Operations Plan.
- Monitor and advise on on-going and seasonal illnesses (COVID-19, Flu, RSV, others) and return-to-work policies for Monarch utilizing best practices from the CDC, Chaffee County Public Health, and other medical facilities in our region.
- Communicate clearly and concisely on the mountain radio system in accordance with Monarch policies/procedures and FCC rules and regulations.
- Document and file all appropriate Ski Patrol and Infection Control forms.
- Perform duties in accordance with Ski Patrol and Medical protocols.
- Assist Ski Patrol with sweeps and other projects as able.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Must be organized, timely, and able to communicate in a professional manner.
- Must be able to act as liaison between multiple departments, employees, Management and Chaffee County Public Health.
- Ability to speak clearly and pleasantly and communicate in the English language.
- Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and situations.
- Aware of surroundings and the ability to identify and respond quickly to situational needs.
- Ability to take directions and follow procedures.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum age: 21
- Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
- A valid driver’s license and good, company insurable driving record required.
- High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
- Current certification as a Paramedic, RN, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Doctor.
- Current ACLS, CPR certification required.
- Possible exposure to biohazards (see JHAs).
- Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000’), with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, rain, strong winds and intense sun.
