About the Department
The Human Resources Department provides personnel related support to all City Departments. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. The intern will obtain firsthand knowledge by gaining professional experience in recruiting, records management, payroll processing, and employee relations.
Position Duties
- Support HR staff in revamping new employee onboarding program(s).
- Assist with coordination and set-up of job fairs/tables.
- Attend meetings associated with HR related matters including staff meetings, trainings and project meetings.
- Provide administrative support in conversion of Job Specifications to include specific qualifications.
- Assist with records management processes to include alphabetizing, auditing and preparing for destruction or storage.
- Assist in gathering data to respond to HR related surveys.
- Provide support in auditing probationary requirements reports.
- Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities and meet deadlines.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Driving is not a key aspect of this position, but reliable personal transportation is necessary for commuting to and from the workplace
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources, Public Administration or a related field.
- One (1) year experience with applications in the Microsoft Office environment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong knowledge of Excel.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to adopt AI and emerging technologies.
Other Qualifications
Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement and the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Security Clearance process to include national fingerprint-based records check and approval for controlled access to protected information.
