About the Department

Carteret Community College is seeking a dynamic and dedicated  Academic Support Coordinator to assist in the day-to-day operation of the Mentoring, Advising, and Planning for Success (MAPS) Center.  In this essential role, you'll work closely with the Director of MAPS to ensure delivery of services such as registration, testing, tutoring, and academic support.   If you're ready to make a meaningful impact by helping students access the resources they need to succeed, we invite you to apply!

Annual Salary Range:  $38,131 to $47,664, commensurate with education and experience

Position Duties

  • Serves as the MAPS Center receptionist, to include oversight of drop in requests, phone calls and the Center email correspondence.  
  • Assist with advising and registering students in the MAPS Center. 
  • Coordinate and conduct MAPS Center testing.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and scheduling all MAPS Center support staff to ensure adequate coverage to meet student needs.
  • Under direction from supervisor, source and schedule tutoring services to aid in student success.
  • Provide marketing for MAPS Center resources.
  • Ensure College placement testing processes comply with current State standards.
  • Gather and provide data for reporting, outcomes assessment and other needs identified by the Director.
  • Maintain inventory of testing and tutoring resources.
  • Provide administrative support for the Dean of Student Services
  • Monitor and ensure security of confidential information.
  • Serve on College committees and task forces as assigned.
  • Attend required campus events including graduation, professional development, & employee meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study, or equivalent education and experience.  Preferred: Master’s degree.
Knowledge and Skills:

  • Four years of experience working in a learning center, including one year supervising the work of others.   
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products and other information systems.
Preferred:  Experience in higher education; Experience working in a learning center.
