Job Description: 

Notre Dame of Maryland University is seeking an Academic Advisor for Graduate Initial Licensure for our School of Education. Reporting to the Senior Director of Adding and Operations, this position directs all aspects of the Maryland State approved Master of Arts in Teaching (:MAT) and Accelerated Certification for Teaching (ACT), and MA TESOL programs. Manages elementary, early childhood, special education, TESOL and secondary education certification programs including GEi. 


Essential functions include but are not limited to:

    Collaborates with Director of Field Placements and provide leadership in providing appropriate internship experiences for MAT/ACT/MA TESOL students, plans and leads orientation, plans and hosts student events, provides periodic support seminars during the internship, and intervenes in problematic situations as necessary.

    Oversees collection of evaluation documents pertaining to intern performance; assumes responsibility for subsequent analysis to document individual student performance as well as program accomplishment in compliance with requirement of accrediting agencies.

    Directs the revision of handbooks; organizes and maintains office records, files, statistics and confidential information; and works on partner􀁜hip agreements and plans of study for cohort partnerships.

    Serves as advisor for MAT/ACT/MATESOL participants from entry to completion. Assists students with coursework selection, course registration and Praxis testing required for certification;

    Holds individual informational and admissions interviews pertaining to MAT/ACT/MATESOL programs and participates in group information sessions sched'.Jled by Enrollment Management and the School of Education;

    Conducts transcript analysis of student records at entry, mid-point, and exit to assure compliance with. Maryland State Department of Education and CAEP requirements for program approval and teacher licensing.

Requirements

The qualified candidate will have a Master's degree in education or a related field and have a minimum of 3 years experience in the field of education; teaching and administrative experience preferred. Candidates need strong interpersonal skills, experience in interviewing, data analysis, and excellent computer skills. Candidates should possess strong decision-making skills, the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. Requires proficiency in organizational and time management skills, team work, and confidentiality. Must be adept with general office equipment, Microsoft Office and database management. Normal office environment. Some evening and weekend hours may be required to meet with prospective students and teacher candidates.
