Position Summary

ProTrans is seeking a transformational Vice President of Safety, Quality & Security (SQS) to lead the strategic development and enterprise-wide implementation of a robust, scalable, and future-ready SQS function. This executive will be responsible for establishing and embedding a proactive culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across a rapidly growing logistics and transportation network.
This role will serve as the senior-most authority in matters of occupational safety, regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, FMCSA), physical security, and operational quality standards. As a key member of the Operations Leadership Team, the VP will drive strategic alignment, risk mitigation, and performance improvement through clear governance, rigorous systems, and forward-thinking leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & System Design
- Architect and deploy a unified, enterprise-wide SQS strategy and management system that meets regulatory requirements, enhances operational excellence, and reinforces a zero-harm safety culture.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, bringing data-driven insights and recommendations to enhance SQS performance and risk posture across the business.
- Lead the integration of SQS principles into business planning, performance metrics, and operational playbooks across transportation, warehousing, and cross-border logistics.
- Operational Risk Management
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for current operations and new business opportunities.
- Oversee all incident investigation processes—including root cause analysis, incident prevention protocols, and loss control frameworks.
- Performance Monitoring & Governance
- Establish SQS performance dashboards, ensuring consistent KPI reporting, accountability, and transparency across all functional areas.
- Lead recurring audit programs, inspections, and compliance reviews to validate adherence to internal standards and external regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance & External Engagement
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations as well as applicable safety/security requirements in Mexico and Canada.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and lead all external audits and investigations with professionalism and confidence.
- Organizational Enablement & Change Management
- Build and mentor a high-performing SQS team and foster cross-functional alignment in a matrixed environment.
- Develop and deliver scalable training programs to educate frontline staff, managers, and executives on SQS protocols and behavioral expectations.
- Champion a culture of accountability, learning, and empowerment around safety, quality, and security.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Industrial Operations, or related field
- Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive leadership experience in occupational safety, quality, or security in transportation, logistics, or warehousing environments
- Proven success leading enterprise-level programs in a multi-site and global operating model
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish strongly preferred

Technical & Functional Expertise
- Deep knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and related regulatory frameworks
- Experience building and operationalizing SQS systems, training programs, and compliance protocols
- Strong understanding of transportation and warehouse safety, including commercial vehicle programs
- Advanced skills in root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and risk management methodologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with safety and quality management platforms preferred
