Job Summary:

The Parts Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Parts Department including staffing, sales, inventory management, customer relations, and departmental performance. This position ensures operational excellence through strong leadership, strategic procurement, team development, and a relentless focus on customer service and profitability. 


 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Operations & Inventory Management

· Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure parts availability to support service operations.

· Oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, and transferring of parts across locations.

· Ensure all parts are properly labeled and organized for efficient retrieval.

· Implement effective inventory control processes to avoid shortages or overstock.

Sales & Customer Service

· Lead parts sales initiatives through counter sales, outbound calls, and customer engagement.

· Provide accurate and timely quotations to customers.

· Maximize gross margins while maintaining competitive pricing.

· Promote parts through merchandising, advertising campaigns, and outside sales efforts.

Leadership & Staff Management

· Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Parts Department employees.

· Drive employee engagement, motivation, and accountability.

· Manage schedules, PTO, payroll approvals, and employee reviews.

Administrative & Financial Oversight

· Monitor department expenses and stay within approved profit/loss margins.

· Generate sales forecasts, expense projections, and performance reports.

· Ensure accurate billing and documentation of all purchase orders, repair orders, and sales.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

· Act as liaison with vendors and manufacturers for warranty parts, special orders, and recalls.

· Collaborate with Service Department to pre-stage and align parts for repair orders.

· Step in to assist or lead in absence of the Service Manager.

Requirements

Required Skills/Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or technical degree preferred.

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in an industrial or trailer parts environment.

· Minimum 1 year supervisory or team lead experience.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; CDK or equivalent inventory/accounting software preferred.

· Valid driver's license required.

· Forklift operation experience a plus.


Physical Requirements:

· Frequently lift/move up to 75 lbs.

· Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach, and talk/hear.

· Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, or crawl.

· Work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to temperature extremes.

· Moderate noise level environment.
