FIFA27 will be established as the Local FIFA Subsidiary in Brazil, to work together with FIFA HQ in Zurich and globally, to deliver the biggest women’s sporting event in the world, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ (“FWWC2027”).

THE POSITION

This role will be sitting within the People, Technology & Operations Division, the Language Centre aims to deliver the most engaging, innovative and accessible Women World Cup experience for all athletes, fans, partners and the community.  

Reporting operationally to the Team Lead of the Other Official FIFA Languages Unit, the Portuguese Translator will provide linguistic support for the FWWC27. The Portuguese Translator will be responsible for translation, editing, proofreading, transcription and subtitling requests into Portuguese (BRA). Further, this role will involve overseeing the work of freelancers. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Handling all assigned requests and delivering by the set deadline (translation, proofreading, transcription, voice-over and subtitling requests into Portuguese);
  • Clarifying all content-related and linguistic questions with the reviser (if assigned) or the requester and, if relevant, keeping the Project Management & Technology Unit and Team Lead informed;
  • Answering linguistic questions from FIFA and FWWC27 team members;
  • Reporting any issues to the Team Leader, in particular regarding meeting deadlines, in a timely manner;
  • Conducting terminology work;
  • Responding to requests from the Team Lead and Head of Department;
  • Following the processes established by the Project Management & Technology Unit.

YOUR PROFILE

  • High-level language qualification as a translator (BA in translation)
  • Five years’ experience as a translator/editor
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the sports/entertainment field
  • Portuguese Brazilian mother tongue
  • Fluent in English
  • Proficiency in any other FIFA language (Arabic, German, French, Spanish, Russian) an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools
  • Proficient in the use of SDL Trados
  • Good knowledge of SDL Multiterm/XTM an advantage
  • Right to work in Brazil. 
  • Ability to re-locate to Rio de Janeiro.
