Ongoing Develop and implement engaging curriculum in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital media, and art history aligned with NYS Visual Arts Standards.
Inspire and challenge students to explore and develop their artistic abilities.
Maintain a well-organized and safe art studio, including supply management and equipment upkeep.
Plan and oversee student art shows, exhibitions, and community art projects.
Provide regular feedback to students and communicate progress to families through conferences and grade reports.
Incorporate technology and contemporary practices into instruction when relevant.
Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
Uphold school policies and contribute positively to the school culture.
Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field
New York State Teaching Certification in Visual Arts (Grades 7–12)
Demonstrated ability to connect with and motivate high school students
Master’s degree in Art Education or Fine Arts
Experience teaching diverse media and digital tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Procreate)
Prior experience in an urban or culturally diverse school setting
Strong classroom management and student-centered teaching philosophy
Passion for mentoring young artists and supporting their growth
Flexibility, creativity, and a sense of humor
