Position Overview:
Aitkin Public Schools is seeking a friendly, efficient, and detail-oriented professional to serve as the Elementary School Secretary at Rippleside Elementary School. This individual will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the school office by assisting students, parents, and staff; managing communication; and performing general administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist students, families, staff, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
Answer and direct phone calls, respond to inquiries, and take messages
Manage student attendance records, including tracking absences and tardies
Perform data entry and maintain accurate student records and cumulative files
Assist with scheduling, communication, and coordination of meetings and events
Handle and distribute incoming mail and other correspondence
Support various administrative functions, including document preparation, copying, and phone assistance
Provide support in the health office for minor student medical needs
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or administrative staff
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (additional training in office administration is a plus)
Prior experience in a school office or similar setting is preferred
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Google Workspace and general office equipment (e.g., copier, fax)
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
Flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced school environment and handle unexpected situations professionally
