The Division of Forensic Sciences within the GBI is seeking Forensic Laboratory Technicians in the following locations.

Position Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Trains to provide assistance to scientific staff in laboratory analysis or evidence controls, in forensic analysis. May provide administrative support to the lab. This is the entry/training level of the Forensics job series. Incumbents at this level may require additional training or experience to gain full proficiency in some or all of the job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collect samples
- Operate laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipettes, automated analyzers).
- Manipulating small objects with precision.
- Handle chemicals safely.
- Record data.
- Prolonged sitting or standing, reaching, bending and fine motor skills to handle delicate instruments.
- Lifting and carrying specimens and supplies.
- Work assigned schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a high school diploma OR GED
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to applicants that, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- Current GBI Employees
- Successful completion of coursework in the field of natural science coursework from an accredited university. Applicants must provide proof of these courses by submitting a transcript(s). TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE IN A WORD DOCUMENT OR PDF. NO PHOTOS, JPEG FILES, OR SCREENSHOTS ALLOWED.
- Two (2) years of general office work experience, which included direct customer support and data entry experience
- Prior experience in a laboratory environment
- Successful completion is considered a "C" or better in coursework.
- Transcripts can be unofficial for the application process.
