About the Department

The Workforce Empowerment Initiative (WEI) Program Success Coach is a full-time position grant funded through the Workforce Empowerment Initiative (WEI) from July 2025 to August 2026. The WEI Program Success Coach will guide participating students through their academic journey, from course selection and career planning to program completion, monitoring student progress, identifying potential issues, and implementing proactive interventions to support persistence, retention, and timely completion. This includes responding to early alert notifications and addressing barriers to student success.

Position Duties

 DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  

  1. Provides individualized support and connect students to a wide range of college and community resources, including but not limited to: Tutoring, counseling, financial aid, childcare, transportation, and emergency assistance. 
  2. Develops and maintains strong referral networks.
  3. Helps students explore career options, develop clear career plans, and connect with appropriate career and technical education (CTE) programs and resources. 
  4. Collaborates with Career Services staff to facilitate career exploration, job readiness, and transition experiences.
  5. Identifies, documents, and onboards eligible nontraditional and traditional occupational students for the WEI Grant. 
  6. Coordinates comprehensive support services for WEI grant funded students, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  7. Monitors and ensures the equitable and full participation of populations identified in the WEI grant.
  8. Collaborates with college departments to track, gather, and accurately submit required data and reports related to student enrollment, progress, retention, completion, and employment outcomes for WEI Grant participants and overall program success.
  9. Participates in outreach efforts to prospective students and community partners as needed.
  10. Works effectively with various college departments, including Recruiting, Financial Aid, Tutoring Services, Counseling, and Career Services, to ensure seamless student support.
  11. Engages in ongoing professional development and learning activities to stay current with advising best practices, higher education trends, and WEI Grant opportunities.
DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:  
  1. Helps maintain career resources, and confidential client and employer records.
  2. Represents the College in community-related meetings/events and on various committees.
  3. Develops and maintains partnerships with agencies, providers, and high schools regarding career programs eligible under the WEI Grant at BHC.
  4. Collaborates with Student Services staff to provide career exploration and transitions experiences for students.
  5. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)

  1. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. 
  2. A minimum of two years computer experience which includes using Microsoft Office required.
  3. A minimum of six months experience working with diverse populations required.
  4. Flexible availability which includes evenings and/or Saturday hours is required.
  5. Previous experience working with advising delivery systems preferred.
  6. Previous experience in handling confidential information provided by the student and/or college based on Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) preferred.
  7. Ability to compose letters and communications using standard written English preferred.
  8. Experience in promoting student development/customer service in an educational and/or service environment preferred.
  9. Ability to travel occasionally required.
  10. Valid driver’s license required.
  11. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis required.
